Have you ever heard of Veganuary? It’s a challenge to go vegan throughout the month of January! Veganism aims to eliminate the consumption of all animal products. Veganuary month invites curious people to try a vegan lifestyle for 31 days by not consuming any meat, dairy products, eggs or honey.
In recent years, veganism has become much more popular because of its many benefits. A vegan diet is particularly rich in nutrients that are needed for the proper functioning of the body. It is also chock-full of antioxidants that help prevent the development of certain diseases (including cancer). Veganism can be instrumental in weight loss, as vegan foods are often lower in calories and contain less saturated fat than meat and meat products. Finally, being vegan may also help prevent the development of type 2 diabetes,; several studies have shown that vegans often have lower blood sugar levels.
Breakfast
Start your day off right with some toast. Choose your favourite bread; make sure it doesn't contain milk or eggs. Spread them with Le Rang's delicious Kaskap jam for a sweet touch. Add vegan cheese for a more sustainable option.
Lunch
For a quick and tasty dinner, cook spelt spaghettini pasta. Opt for 400 pieds de champignons’s mushroom spaghetti sauce to complete your dish. Just heat it up and it's ready to serve!
Snacks
If you are feeling peckish in the afternoon, don't hesitate to use Malterre's candied onion crackers and top them with 400 pieds de champignons’s rillettes. You'll be full in no time flat!
Supper
For the last meal of the day, we suggest a delicious rice bowl with savoury tofu and kimchi. Marinate your tofu with Fit Sauce's legendary BBQ sauce. While you're at it, cook your rice and prepare some vegetables on the side, if you like. Then, cook your tofu and save the extra sauce to mix in once it's cooked to your liking. Complete your meal with the Seabiosis’ kombu and kimchi salad for added flavor.
Now that you have your menu for a vegan day, are you inspired to cook without animal products? January is a great time to try it. Don't hesitate to incorporate high-quality local products into your vegan diet to encourage Québec artisans and producers.
